Big Bad Musical
Roodepoort Theatre - 16th - 30th July
Roodepoort Theatre, in Association with Stageworx, presents a bold and joyful family courtroom comedy musical.
The Big Bad Musical reimagines the classic fairytale world through the lens of a courtroom drama. Fairytale Land, tired of being harassed by the Big Bad Wolf, has filed a lawsuit against him. Judge Wise Old Man presides, as witnesses including Little Red Riding Hood, the Three Little Pigs, and Grandmother Hood, each take the stand to tell their version of events. As the story unfolds the audience discovers the truth may be far more complicated than the stories they have always known.
In a fitting finale the audience itself serves as the jury, deciding whether the Wolf is guilty or simply misunderstood.
With a cast of 30 performers, original songs, and bold theatrical staging, the production combines the energy of pantomime with the wit of courtroom comedy. It is a show that speaks to children and adults in equal measure, built on the belief that every story has more than one side
